In Loving Memory of MaryFrances Gobea Ringstad

July 19, 1950 – July 24, 2025

“It is not length of life, but depth of life.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

With heavy hearts and enduring love, we announce the passing of MaryFrances Gobea Ringstad, a beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, Nana, educator, and friend. MaryFrances was born on July 19, 1950, in Casa Grande, Arizona, and for the past 37 years, made her cherished home in Las Vegas, Nevada.

MaryFrances is survived by her devoted husband, Arnold Ringstad, and her loving daughters, April Thomason (James Thomason) and Aubrey Ahlman (Thomas Ahlman). Her legacy lives on through her cherished grandchildren—Greyson, Adriana (Joel Sanchez), Katheryn (Nathaniel Alexander), and McKenna—each profoundly shaped by her warmth, humor, and unwavering love. She is also survived by her beloved sisters, Rosie Gobea and Lupe Schuster (Steve Schuster), who held a special place in her heart.

Known for her radiant smile and magnetic spirit, MaryFrances had a gift for lighting up every room she entered. Her life was one of service, joy, and unshakable dedication to others. As an elementary school teacher until her retirement in 2017, she inspired generations of young learners and shaped the lives of countless students and colleagues. So beloved was she in her role that many parents sought her out for their children’s education, hoping to place them in “Mrs. Ringstad’s” class. She also mentored new teachers with patience, generosity, and a true passion for education.

A proud and active member of the Clark County Education Association (CCEA), as well as the Nevada State Education Association (NSEA) and National Education Association (NEA), MaryFrances served on numerous committees and as a delegate at both state and national conventions—always championing the value of public education.

Outside the classroom, MaryFrances embraced life with open arms. As a military spouse, she developed a love for travel, especially enjoying trips to Mexico and celebrating Independence Day in Washington D.C. She was an enthusiastic member of the Teacher’s Bowling League and especially cherished the camaraderie and laughter shared during their end-of-year dinners. In addition, she proudly served as Queen of the Dazzling Divas, the Las Vegas chapter of the Red Hat Society—a role that brought her great joy, lasting friendships, and a sense of celebration in sisterhood.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Gilbert and Mary Gobea, and her brothers, Raymond and Bobby Gobea. We take comfort in the thought of their joyful reunion.
